Spring Greetings!

Such an exciting and busy time here at the farm, and in gardens across Portland. Bulbs are blooming, trees are budding, and the promise of summer is so inviting!

With Spring comes a string of holidays that celebrate the renewal and productivity that us gardeners look forward to, but everyone can appreciate after a long winter.

Whether you celebrate Easter or the Eostre/Ostara figure that is associated with the Spring Equinox, the Urban Acre Homestead has you covered with a homemade version of the ever popular: Easter Basket.

The idea is pretty simple: simply pair one of my rustic handwoven baskets + a dozen fresh duck eggs for a natural approach to this classic gift and display item. The eggs can be hard-boiled and dyed with food-safe coloring for an edible treat, and the basket can be re-used indefinitely in the garden (berry picking?) or in the kitchen (storage, display, etc.).
